A Gluten Free Dinner Date with NYC Blogger @GFreeFun

I had such a fun evening last night meeting up with NYC Gluten Free blogger extraordinaire, Erin Smith, at Andina, one of my favorite restaurants in Portland.

Erin & I met over email a few weeks back when I posted this list of my top 22 PDX restaurants. Ironically, she travels to and from NYC/Portland quite a bit for work. Not to mention, she has not one but TWO gluten free blogs:

Gluten Free Globetrotter, a travel based blog where Erin documents her extensive domestic & international travels with everything from restaurant options to grocery stores and even local products. Make sure you check it out before you're next trip!

Gluten Free Fun, more of an every-day gluten free blog where Erin share frequent updates on the gluten free world, her personal opinions, product reviews, recipes, etc.

On top of that, Erin runs the Celiac Meet-up group in NYC which connects over 1700 individuals in the Big Apple for different gluten free events, dinners, etc.

We had quite the meal thanks to the amazing GF menu at Andina, a local Peruvian Restaurant located in the heart of the Pearl District. We started things off with a plate (ok, make that two) of Yuka fries, the serrano ham plate, & a purple potato stack filled with shredded chicken. Next up was asparagus brushed with chimichurri sauce & quinoa-stuffed piquillo peppers.

After both confessing our weakness for sweets, we couldn't help but to indulge in dessert. Erin went for a peruvian cookie, an Alfajores, while I chose the dark chocolate ganace truffle that was served atop a bed of caramel.

After an evening filled with great gluten free food & lots of laughs, I couldn't help but think how a simple blog post has led me to meet a wonderful new friend. Make sure to check out her blogs and if you're ever in NYC, the many local events!
